Family Owned Since 1963
Our story is one of family and community. Opened in 1963 by Rosemarie and Nicholas Lanera, we started as White Plains Drapery & Upholstery Inc. With the skill and intention to provide the best quality, our founders worked as quite the dynamic duo, handling all the measuring, production and installation services themselves. Through their hard work and uncompromising commitment to customer service, the little company grew and expanded, bringing on additional staff to meet the growing demand.
Formerly Lanera Decorating
With time, their three children also joined the company, which eventually evolved into two separate divisions for commercial and residential projects. Under their guidance, we have built our reputation as Lanera Decorating, moving to our current location in Mamaroneck in 2001.
With the challenges and changes brought about by the pandemic in 2020, the Lanera family decided to take the opportunity to refresh and rebrand the company. Today, we are pleased to continue to service our community as The Shutter & Shade Source by Lanera.

Since opening our doors in 1963, The Shutter & Shade Source by Lanera has been working with residential and commercial clients to provide the highest quality window treatments and custom upholstery. Today our state-of-the-art showroom is a valuable resource for home owners and design professionals, offering an extensive fabric, trim, and wallpaper library, as well as a Hunter Douglas Gallery, Window Treatments Gallery, and retractable screens.
